I've taken on a more financial role at work. I have no real financial training. My parents raised me to appreciate the value of money and be cautious with how I spend it.
Now I'm tyring to account for the spending of people who have no idea how much money they have, how it is set aside for things and how it should be managed. To top that, they have me producing budgets for complex bids for contracts. Did I mention that I have no training for this stuff?
I am generally known to be pretty canny with my money (although, that is not always the case) and I have managed to arrange to do some things with the money I earn that wouldn't be possible without sound financial management.
I've just inherited the financial systems of a small organisation and there are no coherent systems in place to deal with this. It's a damn nightmare and I feel like I've made a bed of nails for myself.
